A work of apocalyptic scale, structured like Dante's Inferno in reverse, beginning in heaven and descending into hell. DOMNIQ premiered the work with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam in October 2024.
"DOMNIQ blazes through Bjarnason's apocalyptic Inferno like the devil on percussion. Technique and fiery playing fuse together."
Solo for percussion and spoken word, a rare combination where the percussionist also speaks. Performed with the Orchestre Métropolitain (Canada), Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias (Spain), Castille and Leon Symphony Orchestra (Spain), Belgian National Orchestra, and Orquestra Sinfônica de São Paulo (Brazil).
Written for DOMNIQ, this work for percussion, live electronics and orchestra blends digital and acoustic sound worlds. It moves within a space shaped by AI, where technology is present but not fixed, raising questions about its role in how we listen, create, and relate to sound today. Commissioned and premiered by PhilZuid in 2024, and later performed with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra at the Zaterdagmatinee in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam in February 2026.
Performed with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, the Nizhny Novgorod Philharmonic Orchestra in Russia, and Tokyo Sinfonietta in Japan.
A work for five percussion soloists placed around the orchestra, using a wide range of instruments from Asia. Performing in the Netherlands in September 2026.
Performed with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Asko|Schönberg, and the Bern Symphony Orchestra.
