Dominique Vleeshouwers – Percussionist & Composer

I grew up in a small town in the Netherlands, fascinated by the percussionists at the back of the orchestra. The way rhythm connects people became my starting point. I began to recognise it everywhere, in the streets of Senegal, the temples of Japan, the samba celebrations of Brazil. Everyone understands the language of percussion.

From that fascination I started to explore beyond the instrument: electronics, dance, film, visual art. Building work where disciplines meet and influence each other.

Now I travel to bring these worlds together and connect people through these projects, while continuing to listen to the sounds around me. With the hope of passing that curiosity on.
